Happy 2015 Everyone! Lots of changes happening in my personal life… still doing some adjusting, but I am super glad to actually be posting a news article on the website (long overdue). Cheers to 2015… Hope it is going well for everyone so far.
A little background on this project: My friends had their son Everett last year and I had promised them I would do a painting. They actually moved away due to a job opportunity, but we still stay in touch and this past weekend was Everett’s first birthday party. It always surprises me how fast a year flies by, but I was glad to present this to Everett (and not when he gets his driver’s license). It was a long process, but I am glad I was able to see it though. The idea for the project came from a “travel” theme and then I got inspired by old school postcards (that probably no one sends anymore while traveling). For a while, I doubted if I could pull it off, but I am happy with how it turned out. There was a concern that I may have made it “too serious,” but I am hoping that Everett can grow into it.
Each letter represents a place and has a small sketch of a landmark. I added the flags at the last minute to make it a little more interactive (also to cover my butt just in case someone doesn’t recognize my sketch).
Here are some closer shots of each letter individually.
